Amazing Facts About The First Efik Female Village Head

The first Efik woman (in recent memory) to have been elected the Village Head in Efik. Her name is Chief Madam Aya Akabom Effiong Eyo Efiok Ekpenyong Nsa.

She was the Village Head of Ikot Okon Akabom, Creek Town, Cross River State. She was born on the 13th July, 1901. She had her early education at the Girls Institute, Creek Town. She was a trader, and the contractor who used to supply Government Secondary School, Creek Town with all the food stuffs needed by the School Authority when the school was a boarding school.

She was recognized as a certificated Village Head of Ikot Okon Akabom by the Government of Cross River State in 1989.

She joined her ancestors on the 14th of June, 2005 after her breakfast at the age of 104 years.
